Wireless LAN or often referred to as wireless networking, is two or more computers connected to form a Local Area Network (LAN) uses radio frequency as link media.
The following devices are used in Wireless LAN;
1. Access Point
2. wireless router
3. PCI wireless network adapter
4. wireless network adapter for laptop
Wireless LAN can be utilized for a variety of services such as printer sharing or sharing of data and also for internet access. Each wireless device has the identifier name as the identifier, called the SSID (Service Set Identifier).
Wireless LAN Topologies
In wireless LAN, known two types of topology that is often used;
1. Ad-Hoc/IBSS are the type of topology is the same type of topology is peer-to-peer, the client is connected to client
2. infrastructure / BSS where all clients that have wireless cards, access points are connected through the device.
Channel & Frequency
Frequencies used for each device tailored to the technology of each device. Standardization of technology used;
One. 802.11a
5GHz frequencies used
54Mbps Bandwidth
12 channels
2. 802.11b
2.4 GHz frequency used
Bandwidth of 11 Mbps
11 channels
3. 802.11g
2.4Ghz frequency used
24Mbps Bandwidth
11 channels
IP Address
In the POS system, every home and office has a unique postal address, which you use when you need to send a postcard of the one. Likewise, every machine on TCP / IP network, these machines have a unique address-IP address. When another computer to send data to our machines, they define us as a destination IP address, and vice versa. IP addresses consist of four bytes, and is written as four decimal numbers separated by dots. Example:
192.168.2.123. This is called dotted decimal address notation. IP address is unique throughout the world, except for the address used remedy private network (LAN).
Netmask
When a packet of data sent to another machine, the second parameter on the computer (Netmask), notifying the TCP / IP sender’s computer whether the destination address on the local network, for example: A computer that has the IP 192.168.10.1 to communicate with computer B which has an IP 192.168.10.35, if computer A to computer B can see that directly in the contact? The answer is TCP / IP using Netmask computer A on computer A. A combination computer and IP address it Netmask, determine the range of IP addresses that are connected directly to the LAN.
